Robert Duerr, MD, FACC, Kimberly Schlichter, MD and Michael Mercy, MD, MBA join MDReview as Specialty-Specific Medical Directors

Centennial, CO July 30, 2014 — MDReview, LLC, the nation’s leading provider of external physician peer review, continues to demonstrate a focus on perfecting the peer review process by adding three new specialty-specific Medical Directors. Dr. Robert Duerr will serve as Medical Director for Cardiology services, Dr. Kimberly Schlichter as Medical Director for OBGYN and Dr. Michael Mercy as Medical Director for Emergency Medicine.
This newly developed team of Medical Directors will be responsible for quality monitoring and continued development for MDReview’s peer review services, and their combined specialized knowledge and experience will enhance MDReview’s ability to provide uncompromising peer review based on the highest standards.

Robert Duerr, MD, FACC
Dr. Duerr is board certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and his residency at Bellevue Hospital, New York University, in New York City. He completed fellowships in cardiology at the University of California, San Diego and interventional cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Duerr joined St. Luke’s Idaho Cardiology Associates in 1999 and is the current director of the Heart Valve Center at St. Luke’s Heart in Boise, Idaho. Robert Duerr, MD FACC was integral in the development of CINA, an independent, external peer review utilizing well-accepted criteria in clearly establishing the clinical necessity of PCI, which was launched by MDReview in 2012.
Kimberly A. Schlichter, MD
Dr. Schlichter is a board-certified OB/GYN and has been in private practice, serving the greater Kansas City area for over 25 years. Dr. Schlichter’s practice includes office and surgical gynecology and high-risk obstetrics. She describes her practice style as one that emphasizes educating women regarding their health so they can fully participate in maintaining their health, both preventively and in coping with problems that arise. Dr. Schlichter has served in various hospital leadership positions and has consistently been honored by her colleagues for Best Doctors in America. She has served as chair vice-chair of the OB/GYN department at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and as head of the Quality Improvement Committee. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Kansas State Medical Society, the Medical Society of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties and the Kansas City Gynecology Society. Dr. Schlichter received her medical degree from St. Louis University in Mo., and completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Michael Mercy, MD, MBA
Dr. Mercy is a board-certified Emergency Physician, founding member of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and serves on the Boards of Reed College and the Lewis & Clark District of the American Red Cross. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Reed College in Portland, Ore., an MBA from Boise State University, and his MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Mercy has served in a variety of leadership roles including the Chief Medical Officer for Initiatives Healthcare, and currently serves as Medical Director for Pacific Source Health Plans in Idaho and Montana. Dr. Mercy currently practices as an attending physician at three Idaho medical centers.
